Practitioner Lecturer Class for Master of Economics FEB Unud Discusses Spatial Economics and Public Policy Analysis
On Friday, October 10, 2025, the Master of Economics Study Program at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Udayana University, held a Practitioner Lecturer Class with the topic “Spatial Economics and Analysis Methods: An Introduction to Research and Policy.” The activity took place at the BI 3.1 Building, FEB Unud Campus, Denpasar. The event featured Mr. Kadek Aris Prasetya, S.Tr.Stat., M.E. from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Gianyar Regency as the practitioner lecturer. He is also an alumnus of the Master of Economics Study Program at FEB Unud who now contributes to data-based policy development in government agencies.
This practitioner lecture provided an in-depth understanding of the basic concepts of spatial economics and the application of spatial analysis methods in economic research and public policy formulation. The material was delivered interactively, accompanied by real-life case examples relevant to the context of regional development and spatial planning. Participants gained an understanding of the utilization of spatial data to identify regional disparities and support the design of evidence-based spatial policy, which is policy formulated based on empirical evidence to be more targeted and oriented towards community welfare.
Through this activity, students were invited to understand the importance of integrating spatial analysis in regional economic research. The topics discussed also introduced various mapping and spatial data processing methods that can be used as tools in scientific research and policy planning. The lecture atmosphere was active with two-way discussions between students and the practitioner lecturer. The enthusiasm of the participants shows that such practical approaches are highly beneficial in connecting academic theory with real-world application in the field.
